In general, the Y-strainer or Y-type steam strainer is one of the most commonly used strainers in all water supply and installation systems due to its small size and high efficiency. This type of strainer, which has a very low pressure drop, is used to protect the pumping system. In many cases, the fluid used contains fine particles, suspended materials, or debris that must be prevented from entering the pump to avoid damage. Therefore, a strainer is essential for this purpose.

Advantages of Y-Type Steam Strainer

One of the advantages of the Y-type strainer is that to discharge impurities from inside the basket, there is no need to remove the strainer from the pipeline. It is also possible to drain impurities from inside the basket without stopping the flow. This is done using the drain screw located on the mesh cover. At the designated time, the drain screw is fully opened, allowing all accumulated impurities inside the basket along with the fluid to be flushed out. Other applications of this industrial equipment include water transfer systems, water treatment plants, industrial uses, boiler rooms, distribution networks, and fire-fighting networks.
